Need some advice/info. FI newbie
Ok so heres the deal. I got a good trade offer in which i will receive a block built for boost with 0 miles. never messed with turbos before so i figured meh, why not. i hate to jump into this without any knowledge of turbo set ups, but im going to go for it.
specs of block before i ask questions:
Block: B18b1 81.5mm
Internals: 9.0:1 Wiseco pistons, Eagle H-beam rods, ACL race bearings, ARP rod bolts, ARP head studs, and new crank that has been micro polished and lightened
-I have a JDM ITR stock head laying around, first question is:
Is this head fine for boost with all stock internals?
-If I were to be shooting for 350whp-375whp, questions:
Is this safe numbers with no sleeves?
What size turbo should i purchase to reach these numbers?
Also, what all will be needed to get this going and tuned properly. I will be running Hondata s300. so really, what will i need as far as fuel and other odds and ends?
I will say sorry in advance for those of you that may frown upon this as i have not searched, but if i search i dont feel as if im getting the exact info i need for my particular setup, so if anyone that is knowledgeable of forced induction doesn't mind taking a minute out of there day to help me out i would GREATLY appreciate it!
Thanks in advance! -Mick

asfar as fuel you will need a walboro 255lph fuel pump and at least 550cc injectors but should go bigger incase your want more power down the road.

1. The type R head will work fine no problem
2. Your sleeves are good for about 450whp
3. 255lp Fuel Pump, 1000cc inectors...
Look for a name brand ramhorm manifold and run 3 inch downpipe and exhaust...
since your car is effectively a LSVTEC make sure you use a conversion kit so you wont have realiability issues down the road... You'll prolly need one to mount the head properly anyway...
Get a good tune and you should be aight...

you dont really need a top mount unless you just want it for looks. Top mount are for high horsepower cars and if you want to run like a 4" DP. So you could save some money on that get a ramhorn or something else and use the extra money for something else.

honestly more for looks than anything. ram horn is seen so much, but im not above using it if everyone thinks it is more efficient for my setup...

yes ramhorns are all around now a days but for your power goal and setup i personally think its a better option and can spend the extra $100-200 on something else. but top mounts are super sick.

I still like the looks of an well made equal length ramhorn mani over a top mount. If you have the cash though both would be good for your goals, go with what you will be happy with down the road.
And never say never, someday that 375 will turn into 400 then 450 then 500 hahah it doesnt stop.

yeah honestly its whats going to make you happy in the end. If you want a top mount and have the extra cash do it. it just might be a little more laggy than the ramhorn but not much. but Good luck with the build and the choice you go with.

1, yes type r head is going to work...but lsvtec conversion, u will need to do
2, sleeves being good, well, depends on the machinist's install, condition, TUNE, etc...
3, 255lp walbro for certain! and atleast 550cc injectors (go bigger, cuz more HP is always in our heads)
Ramhorn, is where its at, looks, spool time, longevity. Topmount can be more than you bargained for.
Since you mentioned your new to boost...a good wideband, boost guage, and EGT guage is a decent investment too...always wanna know whats happening in there!
TUNE TUNE TUNE (tempest has a great name!)
