Need help identifying this turbo
Can anyone positively identify this turbo?
Here are the numbers:
Exhaust side – AR.49 M.58 SA-2 Garrett 2 1/3
Compressor side – AR.48 <WL>1 Garrett M24
Stamped into side – 4150
Wastegate – 445963-102-08143-52559
Here are the measurements:
Compressor inlet – Outside diameter: 2 5/16” Inside diameter: 2 1/16”
Compressor outlet – Outside diameter: 2” Inside diameter: 1 9/16”

I have a B18C type R that spun a bearing during an over revved downshift. I’m thinking of replacing the pistons and rods with a lower compression set of 8.3:1, and turbo charging the car at about 15lbs of boost. My next question is if I get this turbo rebuilt, is it too small for a B18? I’m not looking for a race car, just a fast and well performing street car. I know it is small so it will spool quickly and not have as much top end as a bigger turbo. I also know that too small of a turbo can actually choke an engine at higher RPMs. Would this turbo be too small for a 9000 RPM+ B18?
