Need help on 350z any takers?
Ok the clutch was replaced and now the engine does not run corectly, idle is messed up and no power at all. throwing codes for both left and right cam position sensors. Not sure if flywheel could be an issue, or if its pinched wires. I have not looked at the car yet, but was trying to get a jump on the problem. Yep this is "honda-tech" but its also where the best answer for imoprt questions are answered. thanks guys.

Well I would say MY350Z.com is the best place to answer your question. I believe this is the answer to your problems:
"most likely the crank encoder wheel installed in the improper position on the flywheel. seen it happen before. they put dowel pin in wrong hole."

Who did your clutch replacement? If you trust them, I'd let them handle it as it ran fine before the work that was done or assuming it did.

Well here's the deal. Car was worked on by the owner. Ran fine before he messed with it. He put the clutch in and then had these probs. He claims he took it to 2 nissan dealerships and they say they can't fix it. So he asked me as I do a good bit of import work on the side.
Now I do have the wiring diagram for the car and it shows both cam sensors on the rear of the heads and the crank position on the front of the engine on crank pully. Is there another sensor runnig of the fly wheel? Thanks guy

I told you what it is. I have the service manual at home and I can post some pics of the pages to help you when I get home.

Yeah man I have mitchel on demand and it does not mention any of that on the flywheel. If you could post that up for my I would really apriciate it or just email it to damian@hiptop.suncon.com

Re: (King Tut33)
Thanks bud, so the flywheel can go on more than one way? Or is there more than one hole in the flywheel for the pin to go into. thanks again

Re: (turboex)
Looks like there is only one place for the dowel on the crankshaft, but you can put it in multiple wrong locations on the flywheel. Which is why that mark is there to tell you which hole is correct.

Re: (turboex)
Well car has since went to dealership they redid the clutch job and checked the flywheel as they thought that was the problem and still runs the same way. Also are the cam position sensors on the rear of the heads? Only thing I can think is the crank position sensor is damaged. The codes are for both cam angle sensors but dealership said its imposable for them both to go out. Oh and also this car is under warenty (32,000miles). Manager said I think car has a bad motor and they wont pay for it as my friend did the clutch install the first time. any ideas?

Re: (turboex)
Clutches don't kill motors. As most 350Z owners will tell you. If you don't like one dealership take it to another, haha. If it says both sensors are bad then they should definitely be replacing them to rule that out. I wouldn't have mentioned that you put a new clutch in. That was probably a big mistake.
