Default Is my vacuum hose for WG too long???

Here's my setup. The vacuum hose for the wastegate is lined by green. Where it stops near the manifold, there is another tee there that sprouts to the BOV.

Anyways, I have a 7lb spring in there and the boost spikes to 12lbs all the time. I was wondering if my boost spikes are caused by the long hose, or possibly because it tee's to the BOV as well.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

too many T's will cause this not the vacuum hose length.

Ok. I just found a capped 1/8" NPT hole in the turbo. I think I am gonna run the wastegate from this and see if it helps. Sound like a plan?

Also -- there is a source that requires vacuum that is damn near the TB on the intake -- should I try tapping there and see if that helps?

You'll get lower boost if you use the compressor vac port. Just so you know what to expect. might fix the spiking but I usually do the opposite to fix problems like this.

Please explain what you mean when you say overall boost. I'd rather not have this spiking as it happens all the time every time.

And what would be the 'opposite' to fix problems like this?

I've read in boost controller manuals that the line should not be more than 36 inches. I would keep the line as short as possible to reduce response time.

Ditch those t's and hook up the W/G correctly, to the compressor. See what happens

because the PSI at the turbo compressor will be more than the PSI in the intake manifold from the pressure drop of the intercooler. Try connecting it to the compressor like what everyone else says and see what happens

Basically whats being said here about the spiking is that when you "T" lines and run a line from there to your wastegate, your engine needs to fill all those "T"'d lines inorder to build pressure against the wastegate.. What you want to do is find a good vacuum souce(brake booster) and "T" into that and run that to a vacuum block then go to all your vacuum sources from the block include the wastegate.. That way the vacuum block is the exact same pressure as the intake manifold and can move air very quickly.. So the wastegate line will keep close to the same pressure as the intake also..

Ok. Cool, I will try the turbo today.

BTW -- the dumptube is open... and there is exhaust carbon build up in it. If this helps for any information on the situation.

My wastegate line is longer than that and I have ZERO spiking. Holds steady. Could something be wrong w/the WG itself?

Perhaps... but I am just outta ideas.

I am gonna remove the screw that allows for minor boost adjustment and see if that'll help.

Probably end up taking it apart tomorrow.

What brand of wastegate do you have?

Keep us updated.

Oh man... This is for the other post, but sorry man.

But I guess if I post on this post I'd have to make it on topic, so here goes. (Not that it matters anymore)

From what I've read the deltagates are pretty unreliable. Do you have a friend you could trade wastegates for a day with to see if that's the problem?

I was planning on tonight borrowing a TiAL to swap. That plan worked well.
