$2,500 limit + Reliablility a MUST = Not going to happen. I only say this, because you have so much to still buy..

Cheap
Fast
Reliable

Pick two.

Well in that case, I'll chose cheap and reliable. I know too many people that have crashed, 2 of them fatal, because they were stupid. I'm not stupid. I'm addicted. My driving ability/skill level is above that of what is required to drive a stock civic. I'm not looking to drive an 11 second drag car... I'm looking for a "quicker" engine that doesn't put me in debt up to my shoulders.

And after all, when the motor is done, the suspension comes next, which will completely change the overall feel of the car. I'd rather be driving a Lotus Exige S if I wanted a go-kart with a jet engine strapped to it. Because to be honest, driving a civic really isn't cool.

It's what I want to do TO a civic that makes it cool

So reliability with cost in mind sounds legit. If I had like... $8k the car would be done by now and this thread wouldn't exist, but I'm in college on a budget with a hobby that kills my wallet. Oh well, fun comes at a price, I know this.

if that thing blows farm animals, the interior must be full of **** and goat siemen.

Good luck on the reliability. I think it can be done for that amount of money for the power goal you want.

No, I meant the engine blows farm animals. The interior is pretty clean. I'm painting all the panels black and plan on doing S2k seats... much... much later on the build.

I'll get some interior pictures up when I get home from work, shows how much **** I'm getting done here. $15 an hour to be on Honda-tech while the boss is in the Dominican Republic for a week = research!

But staying on subject, what would a reliable setup cost me, based on what I'm targeting for?

Any other input is highly appreciated, even if you're assuming my interior looks like goat semen.

Take a stock Z6

Get a rebuild kit from Honda or FJG distributors
6 puck clutch (LSD MOTORSPORTS)
Stealthmode Oil Lines
Log manifold
T3 .63/.60 (with internal wastegate)
ebay intercooler
exhaust/intercooler piping on the cheap by Racing Solutions (you'll have to weld it yourself, buy some beer for a neighbor or local welder)
DSM 450's
Xenocron OBD2-OBD1 conversion harness
Chipped ECU
Stock radiator with maybe an ebay fan or something better than stock.
Autometer boost/oil pressure (or ebay, up to you)

You could do that well under 2500.

Also, why Hasport mounts? What's wrong with the stocks+insert?

And that isn't sacrificing reliability by using eBay parts? In this special case, I'd rather spend the extra $$ on a more credible product.

Everything else sounds pretty good so far. What numbers would a setup like the one above put out with a professional tune?

*Regarding the Hasport mounts* - I've read that they're the best and when doing a swap- Hasport mounts are a must. I've never gave it too much thought to keep the stocks and add inserts.

And also, what about the transmission on this motor? Good? Bad? Could be better with *insert parts here* installed...? LSD?
