My gauges are messing up....HELP.
Well after adjusting my timing belt(so nice and tight now) i went out for a drive and i rapped it up and then after a little while noticed the monster tach wasnt lit up or working and neither was my oil press. or temp gauge. They do this(weird): when the lights arent on the light up dimly for a while then slowly go out while sort of functioning(kinda jumpy), but when i move to just parking lights or headlights they completely shut off. any ideas?

so the timing belt is all good and nice now ? good
you prolly have a short or on and off shortage...check your 12V wires and ignition too if you tap it to the ign wires (greddy and etc)

I had a similar problem. check all your connections (ground/power/dimmer)...my tach light would go on when the lights were off...then go off when i turned the lights on...and the tach liked to bounce around sometimes

Re: My gauges are messing up....HELP. (TurBoTeG)
When you originally wired up the gauges did you use separate power/ground for the illumination and gauge power? I've seen gauges act in that manner when the dimmer power/ground are used for the gauge power as well. Perhaps a bad connection or short to ground???
I'd recheck you gauge wiring harness and see what is going on.

Re: My gauges are messing up....HELP. (Pengo)
well, i think when i was messing around with the connectors and such and removed the connector supplying the voltage, i may have not put it in the proper place. anyone know which one supplies the right voltage(guessing 12v)? how does that ground look?
supply(red wire):
ground(black wire):

hey man this will save you a huge headache...see those ports next to the fuses, with nothing in them? thopse can be used for supplying power to various things...lemme dig up my picture that i made.
EDIT here...see the way i dd it? its WAY easier. The white one is the one that gets the 12v power when the lights are on...the red one is the one that gets the 12v power when the IGN switch is on.

how is the red supply wire attached? is there a fuse there and its shoved in with it or you have some type of connector? ( i cant really tell from that pic and angle)
for the ground, where does that bracket lead to?
are your gauges all elec. or is it just to power the lighting? how many gauges? you have them all powered and grounded through that same single wire?

Re: My gauges are messing up....HELP. (Pengo)
Well you put a solderless crimp on the end...female spade type...and push it into the fusebox, real easy.
I have all electrical gauges, and I have a nice thick ground wire going from a solid ground to a junction where all the other grounds come.
Currently I have boost gauge, egt, and fuel pressure gauge...ground can be single wire, as can power for lights and ignition, just make sure you FUSE them!

haha my fault for the confusion man, i was askin blufke to see if maybe it was a case of bad connection or bad ground. yea i'm tapped into a coupla spade connections for my gauges and tt. you have an inline fuse with your setup?

how do you dtermine what kind of fuse to use?
how do you dtermine what kind of fuse to use?
is that right? I figure 5 amps divided amoung 3 gauges is enough

Re: My gauges are messing up....HELP. (B18EG6)
apparently it was a crappy *** ground on that little metal bracket, it only touched the body/frame on a painted surface. Moved it to a nice contact and Voila. Still need to add that fuse, but thanks for all the help!
now i have this hesitation problem(very doubtful its gauge related, but i guess somehow it could be possible, but i dont see how):
