Re: (Ekhatch84)
a ***** power goal would be nice to know also
do you know any thing about boosting your motor?? a little reasearch might do you some good but i have seen 200 whp on stock y8s with a good tune so just do a search and find what setup works best for your goals

Re: (aarontrini85)
I would say it'd be fine, from the research I've been doing since I'm getting mine tubo'd in the spring (also a Y8) realistic horsepower goals on stock internals would be around 200 to 250 safely while running a maximum of 12 PSI (though I personally wouldn't go above 10)

Re: (bart2546)
dont know about 250 whp thats a little high and will need one hell of a tune and you might want to get some dsm 450s for that just to not push the stock 240s to hard
and if the y8 oil pump is any thing like the y7 pump either upgrade or shim it lol
and if you want it to last on stock internals keep a safe 9psi and you should have no problems

Re: (vahonda97)
if its off a volvo it should flow good for a D its most likely a t3 or a 13c
if its a 13c upgrade lol although the built in recurculating wastegate is nice its a pos as far as flow
but if its a t3 keep it and it should be a nice setup for a stock d on a stock internal gate with a decent tune

Re: (aarontrini85)
The only way you'd destroy that motor with a volvo turbo is if you crank the boost way too high, get a boost spike, or it isn't tuned properly.
The stock injectors are 240cc, which will max out around 175whp. 5-6psi with a typical volvo 45trim '.42/.48' turbo would get you ~170whp w/o an intercooler, w/intercooler probably 190-200whp.
DSM injectors are 450cc, cheap, and require very little modding. If you get it tuned properly (with Crome, hondata, etc), you shouldn't have any issues with them. Be aware that most tuning options that are deemed acceptable to honda-tech readers require an obd1 ecu (92-95 civic/integra vtec ecu - p28/p72), which requires a jumper harness.

tuning and fuel supply is key factors in making a motor last
my stock y8 has been running 7psi for approx 2years putting down maybe just shy of 160-180whp (??)
recently upped the boosted and retuned with a 2.5bar map sensor, been running 15psi for the past few months. dyno'd at 235whp
