Default My Build

Just thought id upload a few pics of my recent purchases. I think im missing a few bolts from where the turbo sits on the manifold but unsure. Am still waiting for delivery of my Wiseco 8.8 - 9.0 compression pistons, Eagle H beam rods, ARP head studs, ARP main studs, ACT 6 puck clutch kit and a complete gasket set. Am looking for a decent brake setup and will probably swap the wheels and tyres to maximise the grip.

The car already has a quick shift, Avo coilovers, adjustable camber kit.

I wondered if 82mm Cometic head gasket i have will be okay with the compression of the pistons?

Going to run it on the standard b16 gearbox until my funds get better also top of my list is a set of traction bars.

Any comments, advice, pointers from experience are welcome as im a noob. Me and a few friends are going to fit the kit, hopefully run it around 14 psi mark and get it tuned using Greddy E-Manage (would prefer Hondata but not many tuners around the UK who are good with it).

lol i know they get mixed reviews the ss products. I got the kit cheap as a chap i know bought it for the wrong car. I decided if i was gonna run any kind of turbo cheap or not i might as well upgrade the engine internals. Want reliability as it's my daily float and after reading the boosted stock block thread am hoping for around 300 bhp on 14 psi.

Nice car, nice engine, parts on the other hand well EBAY copies. No need to say anymore.

SSAutocrome manifold with that ebay turbo is not a good combo.

Love the I/C

Becareful man and good luck.

i used an identical turbo over a year ago on my b16 , still goin strong now just make sure you fit a oil restrictor to lower the pressure. im building a b18c4 (im in the uk to, it sucks) and im planning on using the cheap turbo on that to. fair bit of lag with it but i drive it every day no bother.

Yes mike glad to hear there from another UK person. I think the kit includes an oil restrictor as i did read about the oil pressure situation. Am also concerned about tuning with the E-manage but got to roll with what i have at the mo. So with the trim of the turbo does it give silly amounts of lag? I was hoping it would spool up quick. I did read a post about some company rebuilding these cheapo turbo's with garrett internals for a reasonable price so if it goes on me that might be another option.

Really hoping all goes well with the build, at least the block will be strong enough.

When i laid all the parts out i thought to myself what the hell have you got yourself into!

Still a bit puzzled at all the t-pieces in the kit, think there are alot of spares.

Also, does anybody know what spring they usually supply with these wastegates?

I love how I can come on here every day and see a new project. I had the exact same setup with a s300. Funnest sh t ever, wouldnt stop spinning until 4th at 90mph. The only problems Iv had so far is the manifold wont hold boost, its cracked (only 6000 miles), turbo blows a little oil, wastegate was crap had to get a new tial with a 6pd spring which only can hold 13 pds, thats pretty much it. Get slicks and a tune.
The hatch looks great keep up the good work.

Thanks guys for the advice etc, have decided to go with Hondata and ditch the E-manage.

Am going to swap the wastegate spring for a tial version but wondered what poundage to go for?

Will upload more pics of my goodies that have turned up.

Work some start hopefully next week, will keep you all updated.

Thanks again.

I am sure you have read the other comments in this thread...
But just to re-warn you the ssac manifold & turbo will fail.
I have seen the manifolds & turbos fail countless times on customers cars.

Concerning the tuning aspect. Chipping your obd1 ecu and having the car tuned on crome, neptune, ectune, hondata etc would be your best bet

Thanks man, yeah i understand the risk im taking but to be honest if it's just the turbo smoking it's nuts off and the manifold cracking i can handle that. I will eventually replace both parts either if my funds improve or when these fail. Thanks for your honesty bro.

Began the strip today, everything looks good to me, thinking it was running a tad rich though.

Need help regarding the wastegate though. I need to know if tial springs fit these knockoff wastegates as im looking at a 20 psi Tial version. If not then more cash out for a proper Tial wastegate.

Found a tuner for Hondata fairly close to me. Gonna roll with the S300 unit, a bit gutted that as it's a JDM i can't have the boost control so have picked up a bleed valve for the time being.

Will upload some more pics from today when i get chance.
