Is my BOV Dead???
My bov (hks SS??) is not actuating unless I let off the pedal under boost. It used to go off all the time, at least a little. also...it is the kind w/ two bolts that hold it to the flange, and it's also adjusted by those two bolts however..it has lost its adjustability. as soon as vaccum hits it...the diaphram sucks the spring all the way in, and it looses tension on the flange and just hangs there...the only way to correct it is by tightening it all the way down...WTF!!!

Huh? I thought the point of the BOV was to only release when you let off the pedal under boost. If it were going off all the time whats the point? You're not confusing the BOV with the wastegate are you? Or am I just totally missing what you're saying?

c'mon man...have a little more faith in me...I've been doing this for a while.
the bov used to actuate every time I let off the pedal, even if only a little...the more boost I was in the louder it would be...at this point...it is only actuating after letting off under full boost, and somewhat after partial boost.

Well that is definately very strange man.
I'm not sure I follow the problem about it "hanging in there." Is it the old HKS sequential BOV? (not the new super one)? I thought they used a C-clip to hold them in too. Have you eliminated all other possibilites? Vacuum lines, etc, etc.... weird man.

It's the old style w/ out c-clip. Its bolted on using the actuator spring for tension...but when vac hits it the spring fully compresses leaving no tension on the bolts.

Just a thought-- Have you checked to make sure all your pipes are still connected tightly? Because one time I had a small leak at one of the connections and the air would just go out through the hole when I let off the gas instead of going through the BOV.

yup... checked that...would it be possible for the spring to loose it's tension? Thats kind whats going on here....when vac hits it...it just fully collapses.
