Default motor sputtering when v-tec comes on

I have a b-16 which used to be turbo'ed by a greddy 15g. I switched and went with a garrett t3/to4e as well as upgraded quite a few other things. It ran fine before, but with the new setup once vtec comes on it will sputter and go lean. So I obviously let off right away. I currently have vtec set at 6000rpm on my zdyne gold secu. I am going to bring it down to about 5400rpm once I get the laptop back and maybe bring up the boost fuel %. Any help as to why it is doing this would be appreciated.

I was having the same exact problem so I went with a holley 67gph electrical fuel pump and I am running some 345cc injectors and now i never lean when vtec kicks in...(fuel pump is probably more than likely the problem if you have not done it....)

fuel is definately your problem, i had a very similar issue w/ my b16 turbo, it'd be alright till top end when it just started to build boost and vtec. They were both fighting for the fuel and it just wasn't enough, i ended up turning up the 12:1 fmu all the way and the b&m all the way and it ran great, that was stock injectors on 6psi.

Sometimes low oil level can cause vtec to cut out but not sure about the lean condition.

ok. Well I seemed to have pointed it out a little more. It isnt when vtec comes on, its only at WOT. I currently have the .35bar spring in my tial WG and the pressure of the exhaust itself is pushing the WG open. I am running the AVC-r so I just thought I would be able to set my boost anyway. I dont understand the lean condition though. I have 450cc injectors, Zdyne gold secu, Walbro 255 in-tank pump. I am gonna see what happens with a stiffer spring first and if it will still run like crap during WOT.

How do you know that your runing lean? Is that just a guess or do you know for a fact?
Is it a sputter (bogg) or hessitation, or does it just feel as though power drops off once you hit wot?

From my A/F ratio meter

It will spit and sputter and wont rev anymore. It will go fine with the pedal down only about an inch but anything past that it spits/sputters/bogs.....basically will not go, will not rev any higher.

Is it just a autometer (or like) thats hooked up to your stock o2 sensor or is it a wide band?
If it's just hooked up to your stock o2 then don't use that to determin anything. I have one and it tells me that i'm lean under boost sometimes (eventhough my air/fuel ratio is rite at 12:1) they cannot accuratly read any air/fuel ratio's that are not close to stoich.

It sounds as though it's actually runing too rich. Your best bet is to get it on a dyno that has a wide band o2 so you can accuratly check your air/fuel ratio.
