Intercooler worth it?

Intercooler worth it?
A friend of mine will be installing a supercharger and in a month he will install a liquid-to-air intercooler.
He has a probe/mazda intercooler, is it worth installing it before he gets the liquid-to-air?
The probe intercooler measures 12.5" x 7" x 2 and 3/4" with 1 and 5/8" diameter pipes.
Should he weld bigger pipes to the endtanks? Does anyone know what type of metal endtanks are made of?

Anyone have any opinions on my questions?

Re: Intercooler worth it? (NOT EVIL falconGSR)
vortech v1 and the intercooler is going on the front drivers side (behind a vent)(the probe one, the liquid to air is going to be in the engine bay, with a front mount radiator to chill the water/liquid) -
Its on a vw gti vr6

I agree. I know this isn't relevant, but I don't really understand why people will go and get a header when they know in the next months they are going turbo. Sounds like a waste to me.

That's because almost everyone is a dumb-jerk-ricer when they start and fool themselves into thinking they will be happy with 20hp over stock with bolt-ons, hahahahaha GFCP
