Default Vtec controller

Is Vtec Controllers Safe or unsafe?
My friends got it in his car and blew his motor? alot of people i kno blew there motor with this? If its safe how should i set it? Planning to buy a controller but dunno if its safe.....

You need a VTEC controller that will switch the fuel maps properly, or else you'll run lean for a sec when VTEC engages.

for the most part they are plenty of safe as long as ur fuel pump/injectors can get the right amount of fuel to the engine as programmed in ur fuel map. If done properly and ur A/F stays within reason its perfectly safe, otherwise u run into problems
