Motor break-in problem...
So im going to pick my car up tomorrow or thursday, but im 150 miles away and the motor is freshly rebuilt. I need to break it in but in order to get home i need to be on the Highway which is at a constant RPM and there BAD for the rings? How about can i do this on the highway. Im thinking like going 40-60, like either leaving it in 5th and let it slow down and increase it to 60 or 70 slowly and let it drop slowly back down again or slowly going up to about 70 and put in neutral and let is cruise to about 40 and put in 5th and get up there again... Please help me out...
Why don't you just flat-bed your car home? Either find a tow dolly or get a buddy with AAA membership and have them haul it. The extra few miles charge(s) is worth it. I would rather pay that than redo my piston rings.
rings should seal in the 1st 10-20 minutes of idle.. run non-detergent straigh 30w oil for the 1st few hundred miles.. change oil alot, dont be afraid to drive it, show her whats coming
