Moroso Oil pan@!
Hey guys, I have this Moroso oil pan I got new to use with my turbo set up on my b18c bottem end.
I did research on it b4 installing it, and I am well aware that some ppl have issues with sealing these pans and normally use abit of ATV silicone or Honda-bond with the honda gasket to get a better seal.
I've done this 3 times now, and still I have leaks with this pan.
Anyone have any suggestions, maybe im doing something wrong?
Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Travis

I know a few friends using them with no issues at all! I guess its possible that you could have a warped pan. If you have tryed ever solution possible I would send it back to Moroso and have them take a look at it. Moroso's customer service gets an A+ from me. I had a stripped drain plug and he told me to send it back and they would fix it no questions asked. Also, do you have any small cracks on the bottom? Did you use a brand new gasket when you installed your pan?

Brand new gasket used all 3 times.
Pan looks pretty straight to me, but Im not ruleing out any possibility at this point!
What if I used no OEM gasket and just used honda-bond?

What you may want to try, if you used the studs that came with the pan instead of the stock honda bolts, is taking some thread sealer and using that on the studs. When I installed my pan I also had leaks, discovered that it was seeping through the threads of the moroso studs. I put a little liguid thread sealant on them and has been good ever since

Yes you could also do this. Make sure to really clean both surfaces.

i just bought another moroso pan because my other one was damaged and I could never get that one to seal. My new one i had both surfaces extremely clean, had a brand new OEM gasket, used to no sealer, and torqued everything to 106 inch pounds as specified and in a X pattern. I am still getting leaks. I've been thinking about taking the pan off, grindind off the bumps that hold the gasket in place so the pan is completely smooth on the surface and then using red rtv to seal it up.

try honda ultra flange 2 instead of hondabond for oil pans.
also use the blue loctite on the bolts...you don't want to overtighten them but you also don;t want them backing out..
i did this to seal up my bent pan thats got to be worse than yours from prying it off with a screwdriver. i did it as a temp fix but its been sealing good for about 8 months now.

1) Follow a pattern when you put those nuts in, there are a thousand helms' manuals available online.
2) Torque the nuts to spec, 7ftlb IIRC.
My stock honda oil pans leak all day long if I torque them down to 12 ftlb and squish the gasket. Find a friend with a torque wrench and get an idea for what 7ftlb feels like, you can do it with an extension, a socket, and no ratchet.
The thick rubber OEM gasket is not meant to be too squished, and will push against the nuts on the studs to keep them place if you don't have it squished. If you overtorque it you creating more friction between the nut/stud by pushing the metal oil pan into the block. The rubber gasket in the middle doesn't like this.

Si Shane is right... you need to torque them down to the correct specs! I torqued mine down to 5lbs then to 10lbs and it doesnt leak a bit! Use a 1/4 inch torque wrench to get it perfect! The gasket will squish out a little on the lip, but that is fine. I put honda-bond on all the corners to help it seal. Make sure you use a brand new honda gasket too! The pattern you need to torque them down with is a clockwise motion starting from the center and work your way out!
