Missing 2 main caps to my GE block
My block is at GE as we speak getting turned into a 2.0 gsr. Ive had my main caps and stock block girdle sitting at my house for about a month and my dad accidently thru away 2 main caps. Called the local machine shop, they say they may be able to align and hone/bore two other ones to make them fit, but it will all depend on how close the main caps i bring them are to working. Meaning that it may take many different main caps to find the right one. The machine shop also said that they heard, but havent seen, the JG makes a block girdle/main cap setup that may fix the problem. Anyone heard of this. Can anyone offer any type of suggestion. Dont wanna junk my $1000 GE block
Can you use one of the other bearings/caps and plastigage it to figure out what size you need?

You must use #1 and #5 but ones off a broken block will work. Probably will have to align hone them but any ones off the same model block will work. Your dad owes you big
Buy 2 new ones from the dealer (if theyre available seperate) i would try not to use used caps esp with all that $ wrap up in your block but you might not have any choice, then have the mains align bored, after that, itll be ok.
