this is on a '93 prelude with a rebuilt j-spec f22 with a custom t3 setup...this friend's install and build was done by some guys who apparently ghettoed his car bad. they did not have any kind of fuel management. they did have an inline pump and oh yeah, there was a piece of wire crimped around the fuel return line (custom ghetto fmu!) haha, i could not believe that. and the injectors are stock.
we took off the wire thingy and put a fmu for the moment.
since he has been boosting, he has been getting c.e.l. and bad throttle response. of course, there were no check valves of any sort. thinking that a missing link would solve the problem, he bought one and we put it on and it took the check engine light off but now it runs even worse and a **** ton of black smoke comes out his exhaust. as of now, there is no missing link connected because it made things worse??? could it be a bad check valve (it's new)? or how else can you bypass the boost from the map sensor?

sounds like you were having a map sensor problem, the missing link fixed it, and then with a properly working map sensor you were running waaaaaay too rich.
