Default making a 3" downpipe...what flanges?

hey guys, im trying to put together a 3" downpipe...I already have the pipe, 02 bungs, and the flexpipe, but Im curious what to do about the flange. should i buy just a normal flange and weld a 2.5" flared up to a 3" and start from there? my problem is i dont have a lot of room to turn it down... i stumbled on this

http://www.atpturbo.com/Mercha...e=FLS

and i think the 3 flange bolt that you can weld a 3" bolts to that, but i want to make absolute sure thats the best route before I finish the project... This is the last time left to get, and Im planning on ordering it before Monday.. help me out guys...thanks.

I'm using the LoveFab sidewinder and a T3/T4. I'm using that flange in the picture. I bought a 2.5 to 3" flare from Brood and cut it at an angle. I am going to weld this to the flange and weld the downpipe to that. I think that will give me enough clearance.

this flange says that you can buy a 3bolt 3" flange that will bolt to it... i am more interested in this just not sure which flange they are talking about. i don't know if the 3" will weld over the 2.375" hole that this flange has.. anyone else have any ideas?

a 3 inch will weld over it no problem. using the 3 bolt flange would provide pretty good clearance around the bolts however i imagine.

Take a gander... I can remove and install every one of the bolts on my DP without removing ANYTHING else from the engine bay. I love my DP.

This is a standard 5 bolt flange.. I think I got it from RRE, with a 2.5" to 3" flare from Burns Stainless, and a 3" donut all cut up from RRE.

Transitions here

SiR, i've always liked your downpipe. Shows how handy those
exhaust donuts can be.

On my setup, ihave a flange with a 2.5-3" machined transition from
ATP turbo http://www.atpturbo.com with a 3" vband flange welded right to it.

That is beautiful man!^^^^

I wish I've seen this before. I'm running a 2.5 inch to an immediate 3"

I didn't use any stainless for my DP, which is why there is rust all over it in those pics... Once the car is running and tuned the DP is being sent to Jet-Hot for a nice coating jobbie.

With the RRE donut, did you have to have the inner seam welded, or did the donut come already seamless?

so when you buy that piece does the 2.5-3 vband vlance come by itself or on the flange? looks pretty good, but its getting expensive...dammit. oh well.

so i guess thats the best way to do it then rioninja??

is that a rain coat paul? YES IT IS!

The 2.5" to 3" transition is TIG welded onto the flange. It's a nice piece, I'm considering using that for my DP.

The 3 bolt flange will NOT support a 3" pipe.
