so is everyone agreed that having no CAT in your exhaust gains significant results compared to having one?

You will see gains with no cat in your exhaust. However if you live in an area that is strict about emissions and those sort of laws then run a cat on the car. I know here in CT its a 1200 fine if your caught with no cat on your car or a hollowed out one so i run one.

On a brighter note just sent payment for my semibuilt gsr head. 9k rpm soon. im stoaked. Not like anyone cares in here cause its ls-t LOLOL still ls bottome end tough

If your local laws are strict on emissions then by all means i would run a cat. With a good tune and high flow cat there is no reason you cant pass emissions testing. I have no cat and did a 5 gas anlysis on my car and just passed at idle cold so it is possible.

IN actuallity a high flow cat only flows like 8-12% better then a reg cat. where you make up the difference is by using at least a 3" cat

hello, im new here and i have a fully built head with portwork, crower cams, dual valve springs, retainers, seals, guides, the whole thing has zero miles. well now its time to build my block and i have a question. im not sure what pistons and rods to run and is the stock b18b1 crank safe for high hp? like is it going to hold 500+ like a vtec motor's crank will? also, how much power can i safely run on eagle rods and wiseco pistons? are cp pistons worth the extra money you pay if im going to be running almost 500whp? thats what stock sleves normally hold right? i know its a lot of questions but any help is greatly appreciated!

Do some reading on the site to help you out. Honda cranks are forged and very strong, you dont have to worry about that. Wiesco and CP pistons are some of the best you can get, you will be fine with either. Eagle rods have proven very strong, you won't have to worry about those either. Stock sleeves are good to 400-450+ usually, many have gotten much more. The MAIN KEY is tuning to keep your motor together.

ok thanks for the help, one more question. what would i be better going off with, 8 to 1, 9 to 1, or 10 to 1 compression? i think 10 to 1 is too high but is 8 to 1 too low? I know im coming off as an idiot but i dont want to go buy some and then figure out the hard way those were the wrong ones.

Oil passanges are different on the vtec block and ls head wont really work.

That being said a LS bottom end can rev just as high. Ive been revving a bone stock 140k miles ls bottom end over 8k rpm for 12k miles on 16 psi of boost. just make sure your running a vtec oil pump with that setup. and if your going to build a bottom end then what your asking is irrelavent. as long as tuned right the bottm end isnt whats going to give you trouble with rpms its the LS head

that will allow you to rev higher if you have a good set of cams for higher rpm and the right turbo/manifold combo. but def use vtec oil pump otherwise your going to blow through rockers and pivot cups like crazy

yeah the official word on that from intec racing (cuz that was my original plan) is that it can not be done. they say there is an oil passage on the gsr block that does not match up to anything on the ls head. and it cannot be plugged.

one week till i put my motor in with boost
