LS/VTEC Turbo, or Turbo LS
ok, i've kind of hit a fork in my road of motor upgrades. I need to decide which way to go. I have a '98 Integra and have two things in mind as a project. Should i go fully built LS Turbo, or fully built LS/VTEC Turbo? Which will give me the most reliable horsepower? I'm looking for a lot of power, but something that will still work for a daily driver. i'd appreciate any other info on this subject. thanks.

Re: LS/VTEC Turbo, or Turbo LS (Hybrid Teg98)
I think Either can make similar power, however to get full power out of the LS, you'll need to port the head, install bigger valves and get a big set of cams, otherwise the VTEC head easily outflows its non-vtec counterpart.

Re: LS/VTEC Turbo, or Turbo LS (Hybrid Teg98)
Do not do a LS/Vtec set-up. Besides the shitty rod/piston ratio, lack of block girdle, and heads not seating themselves right the generally dont last very long. Unless you want to dump some serious money into building one up, dont bother. If you are going to build one up (forged internals, block girdle, etc) the rod/piston ratio is going to come into play. Forged internals means you are going to turn the boost up, and in doing so the rod/piston ratio becomes a key aspect of the engines design for durability. The LS blocks are not meant to be revved, and adding the vtec heads you are doing just that to make power. I would stick with a LS block, get head work done, go with Crower turbo cams and be done. Way more reliable and will make the power you are seeking.
