LS/vtec turbo setup?
So im going to be throwing a already semi built LS/Vtec with type R pistons and a block guard. Ported and polished head. 4 puck clutch and light weight flywheel.
What i need to know is with that compression would it be smart to run boost at all. If not how much do you think the max boost i should run should be. Im probably going to go with Neptune if money permits If not its going to be uberdata either way dyno tuned.
If there is any link or person on the boards with experience with a similar setup let me know thanks.

yes i do believe that the compression would be too high my sugg would be just go with gsr pistons or somthing that would make lower comp

its rele common sense to why you shouldnt run high compression but ive seen it done. i believe my buddy was running something similar LSv w/type R internals. the car hauled *** at 12lbs all the way up until he blew
if you are real tempted, get the best tune and nuthin more than 5 lbs.

I was thinking 6 maybe 7 psi .. wont do you think will blow.. It also has arp head studs. when the compression is high does it cause the head to lift or what? The tune will be on point. http://www.solid-technology.com sean is an official Neptune dealer.. he made 320 on a stock b16a2 motor at 9psi.. I think that is pretty damn good.

Type R compression isnt to high to turbo.I know of more than 3 turbo type R's on this site running good numbers, and lasting.
And instead of just saying a PSI a level, tell us what turbo also.5lbs on a small turbo is far less air than 5lbs on a big turbo.

t3/t4 60 trim.. .48 or .63 ar ....
the compression will be higher on the Ls/Vtec then on the type r though so you have to consider that as well.

the compression on this will be much higher then that im thinking closer to 11:5:x or so.. so that is what the worry is about. kinda high and not forged but does have a block guard.

If your not going with forged lower comp pistions, stick with the ls pistons, cometic head gasket, arp head bolts, you should be fine for @ leat 10psi maby higher depending on tuning and engine managment

get a thick *** headgasket, arp studs, and a timing conservative tune. the 57 trim .63 will be a good match

That sounds good it will lower the compression a lil bit.. What headgasket were you guys thinking of.. who makes a real good and thick headgasket.
