Ls/vtec question

Default Ls/vtec question

Ok i have a turbo Ls right now im about to do ls vtec
I WILL ONLY BE REVING TO 7000 until i can get to the machine shop
Question is reving to 7000 will i still need to get a Vtec oil pump or can i use my ls one?

Set up:
B16a2 head
LS block
Arp head studs
OEM Ls headgasket
OEM Ls water pump
OEM Ls timing belt

Is your current LS oil pump a 96 & up pump?

No its a 95. I figured becuase im not changing the redline i wouldent need to shim it but i know vtec uses oil pressure so i need help guys!

Personally I would just purchase the gsr oil pump. That's if you want reliability man.

It never hurt to upgrade, but if you're on a budget and don't plan to rev higher, i dont see a problem keeping the stock pump

Wouldn't it suck for you to spin a bearing or lose oil pressure after spending all the time, effort and money to do a ls/vtec conversion and $135 more for a GSR oil pump would have been all you needed to spend more for reliablity. Do it right the first time. Just some advice.
