ls/vtec pistons?????????
im putting together a ls/vtec turbo set up. i contacted arias pistons (they were not friendly at all) and they say to run a ls piston. cp pistons says to run a gsr piston................................which do i use? i know that on a ls head the intake and exhaust valves are the same size, and on the gsr the intake valve is 2mm bigger. i really dont want to have to fly cut the piston i just want to order the right piston. any knowledge would be helpful thanks

Re: ls/vtec pistons????????? (saleensolution)
from what i know and remeber you can use any bseries piston except for the b16b without mods. on my lsvtec i ran aftermarket b16s and it ran fine. no problems. hope i helped.

I got ls pistons from arais for my ls/vtec set up. I dont think you have to modify the piston unless you are going to use really agressive cams.

Your block is LS so use watever a ls uses. I had an ls with JE pistons and rods and now I'm lsvtec turbo using the same ls parts except the head. U also use the ls head gasket too.

Re: ls/vtec pistons????????? (Mr.DC2TurBo)
i had a ls/vtec before (turbo) and i used gsr pistons but arias said to use ls. so i know how to put it together its just the pistons are a problem. only because 2 major piston companies have 2 diff opinions. lol maybe i should call je for a tie breaker

where do you see that at? the part numbers are different when i look at it

All of wiseco's part numbers are the same, all of arias' part numbers are the same. CP's are different just to get a slightly different dish or dome volume beween motors, but AFAIK the valve reliefs are the same. All the pistons are interchangeable.

The shelf pistons stocked by almost all companies are EXACTLY THE SAME. I have a set of pistons in my car that were Wiseco pistons for "LS motors" but somehow, shockingly they work.
If you know so much, why did you even start this thread?

what kinda motor do you have in your CAR? and im not arguing im not saying that they wont work. but simply asking which is better for the set up and like i said i dont want to fly cut the piston. sorry that i hurt your feelings!
and what kinda set up are you running?

Re: ls/vtec pistons????????? (saleensolution)
ARIAS -10CC DISH 81.5MM
LS: 3320001
GSR: 3320001
B16: 3320001
2 mm of intake size doesn't mean squat. They make the same pistons for SBF's with valve sizes that differ by over 4mm, nobody is going to make LS specific pistons that just BARELY clear the valve and don't give you enough room to clear bigger valves.
