Default LS Crank in B18C...

just as the title says..is it possible? Would it be an upgrade or a downgrade..or even swap..I think it's got a longer stroke but don't know if I can safely rev as high..anyone know for sure if I can safely rev to 8K and not have any clearance issues using gsr rods and pistons?

no, you can;t LS rods are too long, your pistons will stick up the block..

you need custom length rod...

I got this Idea too a while back...from DiRep972...

longer stroke, better tque, without having to mess with LS/VTEC lines and still keep my oil squirters...

but price of custom rods in comparison with shelf rods, scares me...

**** it...I just turn up the boost..hahahah

u can use the ls crank with ls rods and gsr pistons in a b18c block to get the +displacement

and you're sure this works?

I'm guessing this is going to raise compression as well, correct? Have any idea how much?

yes it will work..

raise compression... no.. it all depends on what pistons you run...

Koo! Thanks for the help

But about raising the compression I meant if I've got 9.5:1 pistons for a gsr the LS crank and the rods are going to put the pistons closer to the head..what I meant to ask is how much will compression raise by doing that.

(stroke/2)+rod legth

GS-R: (87.2mm/2)+137.9mm=181.5mm
LS: (89mm/2)+137=181.5mm

The piston will sit at the same location at TDC, but will be farther down the bore at BDC. The compression change comes purely from the dispacement increase. Anyway, your 9.5:1CR pistons would yeild @9.7:1CR with the 89mm stroke.

Any problems with crank/rod clearance with the block gridle? I would assume not, but I'd like to know for sure.

They'll bang against the skirts, but the solution is easy. Just fab some aluminum spacers.
