Default LS BOOST stock internals question

On a all stock b18b1 motor what part of the motor relatively gives out first on a boosted setup? From what I have collected I can just find out that the crank is pretty durable in the LS for boost applications

Depends. Your head could rise which will crap your headgasket and in turn the rest of the motor. On a good tune, you risk raising your head above 15 psi or so. ARP studs will remedy that. If your tune is no good, you will have major issues quick. Also, don't raise your redline to some stupid number. Stay around stock until you can build the bottom end.

if you keep it around 300whp it will last you a long time. you can push it to 350 and still have reliability but not as long. anythign over that is pushign it and reliability will be out the window. also going to depend on the turbo setup and the tune. you can pop a motor easily at low power levels if its not done right

I just dyno a customer's car last week for IFO baton rouge and it made 283@14 psi on a bone stock turbo ls. The car ran 12.3@109 on the first pass. The factory head bolts gave out on the second pass. It's either the factory bolts or pistons that usually give out first. The customer's was going to put arp headstud for insurance, but ran out of time before the race. There's another guy that Jason (Stoopid) tune that made 309 whp @20 psi of boost. The only thing he upgraded was arp head stud. The motor has been running for years now and his quickest pass to date is 11.8.

and that same guy Jason that tuned mine, it blew up 5 min from the dyno about 7yrs ago.@ 305h@15psi

Piston ringlands go out first cause they shatter. Keep it simple. If you want more power on a stock LS upgrade the Golden Eagle head studs and run e85

Did all 4 of your ringlands crack? My customer and his friend tore down the engine yesterday and they said only the head gasket was blown. Nothing else was really damage so i'm pretty sure the factory bolt just stretch and let water in. Head studs are the best upgrade that you can do for a factory motor on low boost.

All four cracked to much timing. Ran 415 on a stock gsr for over a yr. Tony Palo tuned and sold it to another guy still making 400 on it. But it was on e85

Pistons are first to go.. i have a collection of broken/ chipped/ cracking pistons from stock LS turbo set ups..

ringlands went on mine. pump gas stock gsr round 380whp. ran great all season missed 3rd on the track went 1-2-5-3. still went 11.7

Im running a stock ls t with all ebay crap making 314/280tq on 17.2lbs. keep the redline at 7k and they will take plenty of abuse.

Like said. Ringlands always go out, due to to much timing. Head studs and a good tune and you are good to go. I heard a little saying that rpm's stand for Ruins People's Motors. Less rpm's and more boost = less stress on the motor.

thats been out for forever and if the motor is built correctly rpm's are good

Honda oil pumps have never been long lasting. Id be more worried about that as a mechanical failure. Ring lands are a definite, but the proper tuning should minimize the chances of this happening. An oil pump failing wont be saved by the tune.
