HELP! Lookin to get 350hp out of a b18c1. What setup should i go with?
hey i have a built gsr motor and im shooting for 350 street horsepower. heres my set up. i just recently wrecked my car and the whole front end was gone. including my turbo/manifold/intercooler . so im lookin for a new setup. do you guys think topmount is an overkill for 350hp? and i was thinkin gt30r turbo.

If you only want 350, a stock GSR with a good (Full-Race) turbo kit would've done that for you. Why stop at 350 with that much money into the motor?

Re: (BLKTeg94)
well this was also going to be my daily driver so i built it to be reliable and make good power with the peace of mind of it not going to blow

Re: (BLKTeg94)
For street i thought topmount was overkill.... sure it did great on the track boostin large but for street it only makes power on high rpm.... a lot of lag. i suggest ramhorn. but for only 350, a blox turbo manifold will do jus fine

If you are looking for low horsepower and a reliable setup, dont waste your money on a top mount manifold. instead spent the money to build the engine. ITs also your daily driver so will want to keep A/c. I would probably go with an a/c compatible ramhorn or a manifold like SP's Quick4AC.

yeah i wanted to go gt30r/top mount and run low boost, maybe 9-11 psi's and try to achieve 350hp and have the option to crank up the hp later on if i do decide to go all out and i wont have to change the whole setup, i would have to just turn up the boost

Re: (blackeg)
Deciding to 'turn up the boost later' is always a dumb thing to say IMHO. If you have someone tune it, you go big or go home. If the motor can support 500whp, you have the faintest desire for it in the future, AND you decide to get a turbo to support it... tune it at that number, then just run it low boost 95% of the time.
With that setup w/ac, you'd be maxing a 50 trim t3/t04 at that power level (base budget level), but for $$ a gt30r would give you a bit more room to breathe. Just don't go too big - people such as above that say a gt40 isn't laggy at all aren't talking about 5th gear cruising on the expressway. If you can't build much boost at highway speeds in 5th, then its not what I'd consider a fun daily driver. Thats more of a weekend strip car you drive during the week...

yeah i agree with you. tuning isnt cheap and i DO have a avc-r boost controller with the boost by gear setting but i was wondering is it safe to tune it at 500hp then turn the boost down all the way 95 percent of the time until i decided to go race? wont it still shoot buttloads of fuel? cause im pretty sure the avc-r just opens the wastegate sooner right? if theres another way or if anyone has done this let me know how they did it and how it turned out for them.

one of the main reasons is that my i still have stock sleeves. i heard gsr sleeves are good up to like 450hp, correct me if im wrong.

Peakboost kit all the way. I love mine, makes over 400hp at 14 psi using a t3/t04e 60 trim. Its simple and efficient
