trying to make 450whp! how many pounds of boost
im trying to make 450whp with my setup any info would be great thank you.
the setup im running is a
gsr buttom end with wiseco pistons 81.5mm
eagle rods ,arp head studs , block guard
type r oil pump gsr water pump, endyn breath kit.
i beleave the comp. is 9.5.1 or 9.7.1 i'll have to check again..lol
the head is also gsr thats been p&p by endyn
with skunk2 valve train and endyn flat top valves and im running 98 itr cams with str cam gears, nrg wires
the rest of the setup is jg intake manifold with the hondata manifold gasket, 66mm throttle body with a p2r throttle body gasket, apexi fliter, diy ground kit
the turbo is an sc34 with a peakboost ver.1 manifold and there down pipe, tial 38mm wastgate, percision 880 injector's,and the 600hp percision intercooler, walbro 255. tuned with hondata s200. also the manifold, down pipe, and the intercooler piping has all been jet coated
thats just about everything i can think of so how many psi? also i couldnt find amny dyno's on the sc34.

545hp is a crank horsepower rating just like a 57 trim is rated at 500hp, but people are pushing them to make 420whp....it can be done, but rather than pusing something beyond its limit, why not upgrade to something that is designed for the power goal you desire?

Re: (d3vilishSi)
i rather get a bigger turbo if you can
a sc34 can probably make 450 but its pushing its limits all the time
so i rather get a bigger turbo and make 450 with less stress on the turbo

Re: trying to make 450whp! how many pounds of boost (d3vilishSi)
so if i then just want to make 400 or 425 whp is pushing it for this turbo ?? and if not can i make that a say 14 psi?

you can probably hit 450whp, but you're going to be pushing into the 18-20psi range which on those turbos is getting up into the inefficient range....the exhaust wheel is just not designed to flow more than that...if you want to make more power, you need to get a turbo with a different exhaust wheel at least...

sounds like a 60-1 , i plan on using that same spec. turbo to make the same hp your asking about. i have read threads in the past about 60-1 and people are making anywhere from 400 whp to 500 whp with it..

when looking at the compresssor flow. just add a "0" to the end and that will give you a good estimate of what the turbo is capable of making at the flywheel.
example 61lbs/min = 610hp or about 540ish whp..
400whp would not be pushing the turbo hard at all. but it is a pretty weak turbo for your set-up, i would only reccomend that turbo for a stock block.
your set up can handle ALOT more power. sell it and get a t4 61 p-trim

You have to look at this as a matter of what your bottom end can handle, not JUST "X" boost at "X" psi... Daily driven, 450whp is slightly difficult to handle under daily driven car when in boost, even when suspension is used. Whether you use the 60-1 wheel or higher, you still have to address the exhxaust wheel issue. The compressor wheel may be able to provide the power, but the turbine wheel has to have a particular flow rating so as not to perform as much "work", in order to do its job. Give me a shout... I may have a solution for you.
