Default long trips?

anyone here with a turbo'd engine with mild boost (less than 10 i guess) and decent cooling ever take it on a long trip. like maybe 3 hrs highway? if so, did u drive straight or take breaks to let it cool down?

my car is gonna be turbo soon, but once summer ends i hafta go back to school upstate and its like a 3 hr trip (i could prob make it in 2.5 tho). my route has plenty of stops along the way so i could get to a gas station or parking lotta wenever necessary. i'll prob leave for college, and then come back a week or two later to pick up my car. i really dont wanna spend all that time without my ride to at least work on, but i wanna kno if it can make the trip. whaddya think?

I'm about to turbo my car and then in a month or so drive from Oregon to Florida. I'll let ya know how it goes. I don't anticipate any problems at all. I might get a lower temp thermometer, oil cooler and other shiite, but it should all be good. I've never heard of people having overheating problems merely because of the turbo?! I should be boosting 5-7psi, intercooled on a stock d16z6 by the way.

You shouldn't be boosting while cruising so there should be no heat problems.

ya, unless your at full throttle spooling up the turbo boosting the engine - u should have no over heating problems, ur car drives in vacuum 90% of the time with a turbo, because ur not driving full throttle everywhere u go....much less on the highway for 3 hrs straight.... just watch ur gauges and do some routine maintenance before the road trip and u'll be fine....
