Long trip with turbo... anyone done it???
Hi, I'm thinking of driving from the east coast to the west this summer with my turbo integ. Anyone done a long trip before and is there any problems doing it? Should I do it or not?? Any advice would help, thanks. Also, is it safe to run the AC a long time while I'm driving. I wont be punching it and I'm hoping to stay under 1-2 psi for those big mountains. I'm thinking of driving non stop maybe breaks here and there 2-3 day trip. Is that safe for the engine or will this kill it???

go for it. It's not like you'll be boosting the entire time on the highways and freeways, right? have fun through the mountains, go easy on the long boring straights.

I heard that for long *** trips I should stop after a few hrs and let it cool... is this true or can I just keep on going until I run out of gas and then let it sit for awhile? Thanks for the input.

Yea, just make sure you have tools and extra fluids in your trunk. Stay off the boost and let the car rest every few hours just to be safe.

I would say stop to fill up gas and thats it. no need to let the car rest if it has been setup properly. You think guys with a turbo 1.8t jetta or turbo WRX stop for hours to rest. As long as the car the car runs normal temperature driving for 50-100miles non stop it should be good to go 200 or more also.

i was scarred taking my car to isu which is 2.5 hours away from me but my car did fine there and back.
cruzing at 80-100mph all day long i was un boost about 10% of the time.
i did do a quick race against some stuna*z in a gst with winshield wiper led's
even after that my car was still fine...
my car was running rich though... but still got about 20mpg
