Life span: Daily driver, Boost, Stock B16A
I was wondering if anyone could share their experience on this subject...
1) Who has had a boosted stock B16A bottom end in a daily driver?
2) If so, how many miles did it have on it when you boosted it?
3) How much boost were you running?
4) What kind of engine management (FMU, VAFC, boost-aware ECU) ?
5) What kind of tuning (narrow band O2, wide band O2, your "gut", dyno, etc)?
6) Any details about your setup?
7) Driving conditions (length of trips, highway vs city, driving style, etc)
8) How long did it last (or how long have you had it so far, if it's still going) ?
9) If it died, what happened ?

1) I did
2) 21000 to approx. 50000
3) Anywhere from 8 to 11 psi
4) Hondata S200, strict wideband monitoring, great tune
5) Street + Dyno with WB02
6) SFP mani, T3/60-1, 3" exhaust
7) Couple 12 hour highway trips, 20 minutes each way to school, 30 minutes each way to work, drove it agressively a lot especially to work since it was through a river valley.
8) Over a year of daily driving
9) It started to lose some compression, built a new GSR motor for my SIR and retired the B16 to the garage.
Very reliable setup for me. Never did a hard pull in fifth gear, never saw anything less than 93 octane, changed the oil religiously, and most importantly I had an amazing tune, it drove like a 100% factory boosted car.

1) I do
2) 79,xxx - 81,xxx
3) 7psi
4) vafc, walbro 255lph and fpr
5) untuned
6) custom kit, t3/60-1
7) got on it a few times a week, not much
8) 2 months then I parked it to save up for a Full-Race stage 1 kit, hondata, and a lot of other stuff.
9) still alive, new f-r turbo kit is on as well as hondata and all the other stuff I bought, needs to be tuned.

Yes, bump for some good information. Another good thing to ask : Any dyno numbers? Easier to combine in one thread
