Levels of upgrade for a sohc
i kno many people say for like 7+ psi on the greddy sohc kit, you should def take care of fuel (walbro inline, fpr, etc), but i was wondering where are the other points where its absolutely necessary to make upgrades.
i really just wanna know how high i can go with a stock d16 w/greddy kit, dsm smic, and bov. like can i run 6 psi safely running off the blue box? with the smic, my psi already dropped from 5 to 4, so i'll def turn it back up to 5 once i get the BC and see what gains i get. im not expecting to run 7 or 8, but is 6 possible?
and while we're on the topic, if anyone wants to, feel free to throw in opinion or experience on what time to upgrade other fuel/ignition components. thanks

I've kept mine at 7psi or under on my Greddy turbo'd SOHC, and beat the crap out of the motor. WOT redline runs nearly daily, 10/10ths canyon runs in 95F heat... and the motor keeps on going. I just pulled the motor this past weekend and apart from carbon buildup, the motor looked great!
If you're going above 7psi, you'd better have some fuel management plans, because at anything above that, I start detonating, and that's w/ a type 24 Trust/Greddy intercooler.

Get a pump to cope with the high pressure needed when using an fmu type of setup, yeah just don't go past 7psi unless you get it tuned properly DYNO. Stock injectors be alright.

Re: Levels of upgrade for a sohc (MyWhiteCivic)
well i'm running the Greddy blue box rite now so no FMU. i'm thinking i can run up to 6 psi with the stock kit. 7 and up i think i'd go for an inline pump definitely. just wanna know how much i can turn this up on the stock greddy kit with dsm smic and bov cuz i'll be leaving after this week and i wont have my car for like 3 months. just wanna have some fun before i go without blowing up my engine. thanks

Oh by all means get a better fuel pump! I couldn't boost beyond 6psi without detonating! I ended up getting the infamous Walbro/BBK/Holley 255lph in-tank. A little loud, but gets the job done. Oh yeah, for some reason, the fuel pickup has moved or something cuz I'll run out of gas prematurely (just as the fuel light goes on).
As far as turning up the wick on the Greddy SOHC kit, I'll let you know soon enough. I just pulled my motor last week to put in a reinforced block w/ 9:1 pistons. With the AEM EMS, I hope to put out at least 13psi from the turbo on pump gas and 550cc/min injectors.
