Default Lets talk downpipes and top/side exit.

Ok first off, before anyone jumps down my throat and tells me to "search", we all know the search function sucks and you are better off searching honda-tech on google.

Anyways, I recently changed to a Peakboost divided topmount and it basically made my current 4-inch downpipe rather useless.
I have to either modify it extensively, or make a new one.

I have been dancing around the idea of exiting through the hood. Now, this car isnt ONLY a drag car, but its an occasionaly street driven car. Will this drive me absolutely nuts? I dont think it will, but im just wondering.

Also, The turbo is a PT67 with a 3inch vband exhaust housing. I dont know if I should ditch the 4inch or if I would be fine with just a 3. I would like this setup to be as efficient as possible, so im thinking 4.
The goals are ~500 on pump and ~600 on C16. (1000cc injectors are limiting me around 600 im guessing) Im going to upgrade to 2000's this winter.

Thoughts?

i got a bumper dumper, i need to drive to the track, its about an hour from Vancouver to Mission raceway.

i LOVE how it sounds. its awesome and amazing.

cops DO NOT love how it sounds.

if you arent going to have problems with the police, id say go for the hood exhaust. then again, is the car garaged? because i am sure you dont want it filling with water.

thats why i went bumper dumper. no need to worry about rain.

Ive never been pulled over in the car with a 4inch DP, 3 inch exhaust, no Cat, no Res...
As a daily driver for ~3 years.
but, thats not a 4 inch venting out the hood.. lol
The car is garaged, yes.

My Ridgeline is my daily, but I would take this out on nice days... etc

Might seem noobish but if you were to run a hood exit downpipe, where would your wideband o2 go. I know they dont read well closer than 8 inches to the turbo so that leaves me a bit confused with the hood exits. Just wondering

fresh cup of coffee in the morining... start out with the local civic forum, move on to d-series, then check out td16 and rhmt for anything cool, once thats done, depending on the time, a nice brows of the HT drag/FI/fab section is in line.

drag section is by far the best. and the drama is top notch!

if your doing a 90deg then striaght up out the hood, why cant you just spin it to dump to the ground? if its v-band this should be hard thing to do. if i was you and ive done a couple k20's on boost and several b's.. ive done the hood exit.. if you dont like black **** blowing all over the roof of your car and windsheild.. and exhaust **** will build up in the edges of your windshield seals also after a wash.. it gets rather annoying and i honestly thing it looks halfassed.

just run it out the bumper.. or better yet.. just run it back as normal. saves you the headache.

and good point about the wideband.

I agree with the drag section lol.

And I think the bumper would be the best looking. But threw the hood is easier lol

After owning cars with side exit exhausts and exhausts out the rear, i personally will never do a hood exit. Too loud in the cabin for me. Id rather run 10lbs more of aluminum exhaust out the rear and have it quieter inside. but thats me

I have mine vented out of the front bumper. Sound is all sorts of fun at full spool. Also I can run a full time WBO2 about half way in without any real issues. I drive it on the street all the time, STILL haven't been pulled over for it yet and I've driven right passed cops with it sticking out in their face.

Your sig says, "Precision SC5758BB - 30+psi on E85" Do you mean 5857? I'm thinking about that turbo... What motor are you running and what did you put down? Thanks

Whoops! Time to fix that. Yep, that's the turbo I'm running, ceramic ball bearing version.

But I don't have numbers. Long story short, between school and work, I don't have time or money right now to dyno it lol. Engine is a D16Z6.

1crazyk -

I don't have pictures of the downpipe itself, but you can get the basic idea of where I went here. Down the side of the rad, around the clutch slave, under the lower rad, then around whatever framework there is and out in front of the front tire.

PS. I now have a stock fan back in and it fit.
PSS. I have a real filter on the turbo now too.

That's a bad *** turbo. I'm curious what 30psi does on a d16... I put down 489whp @ 28psi (e85) on a 3076r. Only 17 degrees timing

Not tryin to thread jack... Bump for more exhaust pics

the prelude runs it at the top of the downpipe. it works just fine.
