got a 93 civic with the 3 inch kteller exhaust on it and the top of the exhaust is hitting the bottom of the shifter, how did you stop yours from hitting? this might not be the best idea but i was thinking about marking where its hittting taking it down and hitting it in slightly with a hammer just enough so it doesnt rub

I would rather it rub than to dent the exhaust and loose flow. Just get a flex section put in your dp or exhaust so it will move when your shifter hits it.

it has a flex section in it, and the exhaust does move a little cuz i took one of hte rubber hangers off thats right under the shifter, but it still rubs a little and its annoying as hell and i'm afraid that over time it will rub a hole in the exhaust

i dont see why you cant put the closed end of a wrench on the metal hanger that is connected to the exhuast and slightly bend it upward so that the ex will hang slightly lower down. use the wrench only as a lever, not like a wrench.

It will take a long long time to put a hole in that ...
Have a short shifter ?? If you do put stock back in that will raise the pivot point up.
Mine rubbed for 2 years and it just scuffed the piping I wouldnt worry about it unless it wont let you go in gear easy.

i tried that but with channel locks and i couldnt get it to bend but the exhaust was still on the car when i tried.

well, you can use a long *** wrench on it. channel locks suck cause you have to hold them closed. my wrench idea will work for you, if you are having trouble put another wrench on the end of the other one, to make a long *** lever. it will be easier to bend with the longer lever.
if you have no idea what im talking about, i will take a picture for you and show you how to do it.

i understand what you are saying, but if i do that i'm either going to have to completely remove the exhasut or lift it on a lift but i dont have one of them. so i guess i'm going to have to remove the exhaust first

just unbolt it by the cat, then unhang the 2 rubber hangers by the cat, it should come down far enough for you to be able to get it, jack up one side of the car, put some jackstands under it and get to it no need to do any extra work, ya know?
