Last customer used one, was the type S greddy one. It sucks, it leaked and really did not blow off

i tuned a customer's integra and he had an ebay HKS knockoff SSQV. it had some carbon fiber wanna be sticker lookin coating on it. anyways the car hit a boost spike ( 15 psi) and the valve literally cracked almost OFF the flange!. now granted im sure that they all arent HORRIBLE like that, but that definately made me weary.

that's nopi's house line ( number one performance) blowoff valves. ive had a few customers use them and seem pretty impressed for low boost applications.

I just removed the inner (smaller) spring and left the outer (larger)spring installed on that greddy type s knockoff that 90blackcrx is talking about. It works fine now. Sounds close to the real type s, but no cigar. I'm going back to my authentic Greddy type RS but will be removing the inner spring as well on it.

Why did you remove the inner spring? I'm planning on getting a real type-S bov so I'm kinda curious.

Yeah your gonna have to. I was getting compressor surge on my both bov's with both springs installed. Removing the inner spring on my knockoff type s stopped the compressor surge... im sure it will work on the Greddy.

Removing the inner spring reduces the amount of tension it takes to move the piston up and down... i'm guessing that 7psi wasnt enough to get that piston moving.

i took apart the knock off greddy type s i had along wiht a real type s and it was exactly the same as a real type s other than the diaphram. the knock off used a brittle rubber o ring and a rubber sandwich gasket to seal up the internals.....bad design which i am sure leaked

Havent taken apart the authentic Greddy Type RS yet but it seems to be much better quality then the fake. The fake had some cheap rubber that could cause some leaks overtime.

I've seen a few diaphrams on the cheapo BOVs and they are not good at all.

IMO, if you are going to do a cheap BOV, either get one without a diaphram (like the RFL), or go with a 1st gen DSM, they are cheap and well made.

if you're going to go cheap, get the RFL since it has no diaphragm inside.....it has less chance to leak
