Junkyard Turbo First timer Help
I want to go turbo on my d16 in my civic. i am just giving a list of things and questions as to what i need additionally and what people think of the parts being chosen. Keep in mind, this is for stock block, catback exhaust, to be run at like 6 psi and very little more. Also trying to keep cost at a minimum while avoiding mechanical failures and other problems.
Considering buying a turbo and mani/downpipe kit from ebay. Good price (280), new turbo, no real worries that i can see, if someone knows better, enlighten me please. Otherwize i would build my own mani out of steel and get a t25 or 16g from a dsm, something like that
side mount intercooler from a dsm for super cheap. Maybe spend the extra for a FMIC, but i doubt it highly. (~40)
FMU and fuel pressure regulator to deal with boost. (150) Are new injectors necessary?
Charge pipes from aluminum from local yard, they will bend stuff on the spot, all i have to do it give them measurements. great prices. (TBD)
Probably just going to use a relatively cheap cone filter, worse comes to worse i will use a k&n filter because they make tons of applications. (50)
weld in oil return to oil pan. use an adapter off the oil filter for the feed. (parts)
waste gate cheap 6psi
blowoff valve cheap 6psi
boost controller will eventually be electric, but will most likely go with the T fitting style until that point arises.
and lots of vaccum lines.
Please tell me if i have missed anything. I would go buy maximum boost but everytime i go to any bookstore they can't find it. So help me as much as you can here, i would greatly appreciated it.

Re: (snoochtodanooch)
I'm building a kit myself and here's the list that I came up with:
DSM Manifold $50
14B Turbo $75-150
2.5" Custom Downpipe $200
Exhaust $200-300
HKS SSQV BOV $Free
Home Depot MBC $10
DSM 450cc Injectors $50
Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump $90
Autometer Boost Gauge $50
Saab FMIC $50-75
Charge Pipes $100
Oil Feed/Return $100
K&N Filter $Free
Vacuum Lines $10-20
Silicone Hoses $25
Clamps $25
Uberdata $Free
I'm using a Saab FMIC because they are pretty cheap to get and I like how they are black, a nice sleeper look. Sometimes on eBay you can get a brand new Saab Viggen for $150-175 shipped which isn't to bad.

Get a T3 turbo, more applications for Hondas and more parts made to fit Hondas. Uberdata basemap will run your car just fine. The internal wastegate will probably be set at 8 psi, what do you need a boost controller for? You said you didn't want to run much more boost.

Don't listen to this guy. Foolishness. I don't get the preconceived notion on here that a boost controller is SOLEY for turning up the boost. It's just not true. A boost controller also GREATLY improves spool up time by keeping the boost signal from reaching the wastegate(internal or external, but ESPECIALLY internal)and therefore keeps the wastegate from opening prematurely, allowing boost to build quicker. Boost controllers also help regulate spike and creep.
An uberdata basemap will run your car ok, but you really should get it tuned at your earliest convenience. Every car is different. Im not even talking dyno tuning, just a friend with a wideband and laptop will suffice.
Internally gated turbo's are usually less expenisve becaue they are almost always pulled off of factory cars. There is nothing wrong with them for applications under 9-10psi but they do tend to be a tad inconsistent. I really don't know why you would build your car for boost and then not want to make power? With the small turbo you plan on using you could safely run 8-10lbs and have a very nice powerband.
Oh and what is this turbo you speak of on ebay? DO NOT GET THE SSAUTOCHROME TURBO OR MANIFOLD

yea i was referring to that. i was also looking at used stuff, possibly a used greddy kit for my car.

Bro, used parts are hella better than that!! Buy from someone who has vouches don't buy the probable ssautochrome nightmare.
