get a turbo, and exh. manifold off ebay. make some custom pipes and find some one with turbo knowlegde on the other small esentails needed. then crank th boost up! you can also get kits for les then 900. how good i dunno, but its worth a try! just look for it on ebay! its the best thing since sliced bread and porno of two girls!

you can biuld a turbo for under $400 with junkyard parts. That's what i'm doing. got turbo for $40, intercooler $15, headers and adaptor plate $70 and so on. but if you really know your parts and take time to research the best and cheapest price, u can make ur homemade turbo for under $400.

Re: CHEAP Turbo D16 help? (Type-X)
^^^ thank you Type-X! i've been saying this for a while and everyone just brushes me off and talks about the $1k+ kits that don't even come with an intercooler. you can pick up some used DSM turbo parts, even use the factory intercooler, for like under $500 with everything you need )flanges, charge pipes, etc. hey Type-X, if you need some info/help with that junkyard kit let me know, i'll try to help you where i can. Not everyone wants a pure junkyard setup though.
I myself was all about the budget when starting, then you start reading about all these ghetto setups and how ***** running.
Old turbos being pushed to 10psi with shitty fuel management, boost creeps and cracking manifolds
Definetely look into a rebuilt turbo if you cant afford a new one, you dont want to be stuck on the side of the road every week because your turbo blew and your making volcano ammounts of smoke, boost creeping and blowing up a pistons and you need a new engine.... not cheap....
Ghetto charge pipe couplers and clamps that pop off while youre boosting on the highways.....
Just dont cheap out on things that shouldnt be cheaped out on if you enjoy your car and dont always want to be pulling tranny and swapping turbos and redoing piping

Oh yeah, by all means cheap can be done if you have some fab skills and can make some cheap things work, you can easily grab a $
100 SSAC tubular mani, make 2 braces in an hour and its solid
grab a used JRC 5" intercooler for $150
Safc and 450's for under $200
boost gauge, oil feed/return $100
ssac 35mm wg - $130
used 2.5" dp - $125
charge pipes clamps n couplers n 1g dsm bov, joe p mbc - $200
Thats a nice descent kit with a reliable turbo, reliable uncreeping boost, braced turbular manifold and a effecient intercooler and pretty descent fuel management
The use of a wideband wouldnt hurt, or find one of those dyno days where you gets 3 quick pulls and make your adjustments to the SAFC and make your a/f nice

Re: CHEAP Turbo D16 help? (W O T)
i think the only expensive and hard part about a junkyard turbo (which is just as good as any new turbo) is chipping the ecu and making that down pipe. I'm useing the stock down pipe from the volvo i took the turbo from. This is also a plus with junkyard turbos because u can grab stuff from the turbod car like intercooler, blow off valve, charge pipes, etc. Rite now i'm trying to modify the down pipe ($15) to fit and weld it my self. This will save me that $60-$90 bucks if i take it to the shop for custom fitting and welding. I think the only drawback to junkyard turbocahrgers is that they might have alot of shaft play, but u can always rebuild it rite.
