JRSC hondata questions for SOHC.
Hey guys, I've seen some of the IAT sensors on JRSC tegs mounted on the intake manifolds. Since I've got a 00 civic, the IAT sensor is mounted in the intake pipe before the throttle body. I was told that I needed to get an older civc or integra (88-94) IAT sensor that I'm sure I could probably get a hold of, but the JRSC SOHC manifolds do not have a place for these to bolt up, AFAICT. Hondata needs this so it can adjust the maps based on IAT input as well, as if it is in the intake before the throttle body, then it will always be colder and run richer than it should. Any way to mount the IAT sensor in the JRSC manifold? I know that there is a brass plug covering a hole, but it looks nothing like the IAT sensors I've seen with the two screw holes on the side. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You need the IAT sensor in the manifold. In it's current location, it is sensing air temp before the compressor. The ECU cannot compensate for increased air temperature.
On the B series JRSC manifolds, there is a spot on the back with a blockoff plate for the IAT.

We had a place on the drivers back side of the jrsc mani. There is a plate there to remove and install the iat sensor. This was on a 97 d16y8. HTH

The 99-2000 JRSC SOHC manifolds for the D16Y8 have a spot that looks like it should have a plate for the IAT on the drivers side but there is no plate there, it's solid manifold, albeit raised a bit, hence why I said it looks like it should have a plate. AFAICT, there is not a way to plug in an IAT in the 99-00 D16y8 JR manifold.

Stick the IAT in a piece of rubber hose Tee'd into the brake booster line. It's not pretty, but it will work. It is important that the IAT sensor be AFTER the compressor.

The problem I see sticking it into a hose on the brake booster line is that it won't be seeing very much temperature when the car is in vacuum. I suppose it wouldn't matter too much. It's a thought nonetheless. I'll have to experiment.

It's not as ideal as sticking it directly in the manifold, but it is waaay better than having it in the intake boot.
