Default The Real Electric Blower

Just saw this in SCC, maybe a repost, but I thought it was something new.

http://www.boosthead.com/old/main.htm

Thomas Knight Turbos is proud to unleash our awesome new ESC-400 Electric Supercharger. This is not that POS little fan you've seen on eBay that barely pushes 1 PSI. Our product works. This is for real.

Revolutionary Electric Supercharger technology shocks the competition with up to 20 PSI of boost
Yes, we said 20 PSI. In 3/10 of a second. With zero parasitic loss.
Instantly adds 75+ HP with the push of a button
Flows 405 CFM at 5.5 PSI
Compact design fits most engines up to 3.5L (215 cu. in.)
Powerful twin rotor design
CNC 60-16 T6 aluminum billet
Operates on 12V-24V lightweight racing batteries that can recharge in minutes at no additional cost
6 HP x3 electric drive system summons 15,000 watts of instant power
Designed for short 15-second bursts, like Nitrous but without the $2K-$10K in refills annually
Perfect for models with no available blower or turbo kits
Thomas Knight Turbos has designed custom kits for high-speed boostheads since 1978. We offer conventional and electric superchargers for the Ford Focus, Ford Probe, Ford Ranger, Ford Taurus, Mazda 626, Mazda MX6, Mazda Millenia, and Mitsubishi 3000 GT. Popular upgrades for the Ford Probe and Mazda MX6 2.2 factory turbo are also available.

Opinions?

2 grand, oh my... thats alot of money for 3 starter motors and a compressor head.

Wouldnt it be way cooler to hook up a gas powered leaf blower?

I've seen his first version of the electric supercharger. It was on this POS V6 Ford Probe. It had a Vortech supercharger with a huge starter motor attached with a bracket and he made it fit in the Probe. At that time it had 3 batteries and every time it was turned on it sounded like a big vacuum cleaner, ok an extremely large vacuum cleaner. Everyone would laugh cause it went no where but it was good for laugh and giggles.
It's suppose to be Jeff night turbos isn't it?? by The Monkey Jungle at Homestead.

Is it really $2000? If so couldnt you get a JRSC for like 5-6 hundred more?

Well, if you think about it, this should cost more then a normal JR supercharger because you have to pay for all those starter motors and crap instead of just putting a pulley on it.

haha, for 2 grand it doesn't even come with the 2 or so car batteries that you need to run it!

I bet it sounds hilarious when you flip it on

Looks like some SERIOUS competition for Larry's superdupercharger.

did any of you guys see it in person? see any dyno results? So why are you bashing something that just came out? Do a search on google or yahoo, people here are usually biased to turbo only (like red-necks to v8).

It was actually the blower casing that drew me to this setup. Usually when you read electric supercharger you see a boat blower, but this actually has a supercharger, just driven by electric motors. But youre right, turbo or get the hell out is the moto here.

Looks like it'll kill all of your power when it's turned off.

Hmm, South Florida Performance. Chet and I have been down there to tune his hatch. Maybe I should call them up and see if they laugh when I ask them about it.
