Default JRSC GUYS

today as i was changing my crank to alt belt (96 integra RS on stock boost) i noticed the lower tensioner pulley was seized up and all the bearings fell out. do you guys know if there is another option to buying one besides through Jackson racing? seeing how it costs almost 40 bux.do autoparts have one similar? I noticed on Jacksons website that their pulley is black and plastic. the one i have on right now is gold and made of a kind of metal. thanks guys for the help. i need one by this weekend.

The plastic idler pulley wears better than the older metal style. But if you can find some type of store that sells bearings, you can change out the inner section. I did it in a pinch once when I was out of town. The bearings seized and made a god awful racket. From what I remember there was a NSK # on the bearing....I got out a phone book and called auto parts stores until I located the part.

One time I broke my ALT belt about 200 miles from home.I ended up making it home b/c if I was on the throttle enough the SC belt would spin my alt.

yeah i was driving home from the beach once and i noticed my batt light came on and would flicker in and out. but if i kept enough throttle on it i would make the battery light go away. hahah ended up being the alternator belt was completely gone. ive yet found one that fits good. replaced it and that one must have slipped off. i might just buy them straight from JR and use the belt measure at my work to see what length i really need

If you are willing to spend the $35, you can get a plastic replacement pulley from jackson. The plastic ones are better in one sense because they weigh almost nothing and therefore require less power to spin them. The drawback is that the bearings they use are cast in and can never be replaced.

However, the metal ones, while being really heavy, have replaceable bearings. If you just want to replace the bearings and keep the metal pulley, then pop the bearing out and measure the width, inner diameter, and outer diameter. The bearings are not an uncommon size. Just use the three measurements to find replacements on ebay.

yeah i probably just buy the plastic one hopefully the belt wont get chewed enough for me to drive 600 miles down to O.C from sacramento on sat. ill take my chances since i have no choice. but myne seems to be imrepairable because everything inside of it was all bent and the bearings all fell out when i took it apart. thanks for the responses.
