Default Jackson Racing FMU Question

bought a 5th gen civic with a b18c1 engine and greddy 18G turbo kit. i dont have the blue box, but i was told i have a Jackson Racing FMU with 440cc injectors.

i also have a apexi vafc controller.

now i know the FMU is supposed to increase fuel pressure during boost..

i was just curious how this works, and details etc, etc...

is it pointless to use my VAFC with this thing?? will it actually help to have it, if it adjusts fuel pressure after fuel is released?

I also noticed that the Vtec doesnt hit hard.. it feels like it has too much fuel going into it.. (i know i need to get it dyno tuned - just can't afford it yet)

i always have smoke come out of my engine when i WOT, and everynow and then get the muffler pop as if im running to rich, which i know i am cause i can smell it sometimes...

also, of probably no importance, but noticed my Air-fuel Autometer (i know they are just light shows for the most part) it jumps to DEEP RED Lean when boost and VTEC are on.... but i pretty much ignore that because its obvious im running rich, i think too rich... but dont know if adjusting the VAFC is going to help with this FMU.

so give me a heads up let me know what you all "experts" think
