Furthermore...

I want to build the car to avoid things breaking, at least expensive things. I dont want a useless motor in the future, or any $5k repair bills.

i don't know if you are being a smart *** but...
It sounds like a tracter, or one of those spinklers that goes chu-chu-chu-chu-chu.

Basically it is b/c of lost compression in the cylinder.
