Default This isn't something I need...

While I'm still building the Mini (in sig), at my "day job" I've had the chance to work on a turbocharged engine which has started me thinking about turbos. The last thing I should be thinking about is putting a turbo on my H22. Don't worry, I'm going to finish the car with the stock engine and see where to go from there, but working on that turbo'd engine was way cool. Cool enough that I'm doing a "what if" project to see what it would take to do a mild 6psi custom system. Looking at books on turbos has been disappointing. The two main ones people diss as too elementary. Where have you guys who've done custom turbo systems found your info. All on line? Specifically I'm trying to figure out how to size the turbo. Since the car will be used for autocross and timetrials, lag is a bad thing. I want to use a small turbo for quick boost then use the wastegate to hold it constant. I'm interested in only 6psi boost from, oh, 3000-7000rpm and no higher. Anyway, mindless blathering off...

Punctuation is your friend.

Umm, last time i checked you could run 6 psi from the time the turbo spooled til the time you bounce off your redline. Depends on the setup, what spring is in the wastegate, what bost controller is the spring is smaller etc.
If you want to learn about proper turbo choice for your motor you will need to learn how to read a compressor map.
