Internal wastegate fluttering and oscillating boost.
I have an internally gated reverse rotation 16g (SRT-4 Turbo-fold) I'm using a Profec B set up for the internal gate to control boost. My vacuum signal for the gate and for the profec are off of the compressor housing...which reads about 5-7psi higher than my intake manifold sourced MAP sensor and boost gauge. The gate will open at around 0-1 psi (boost gauge reading from intake manifold) which is approx 7lbs at the compressor housing. But here is the kicker... it will open the gate in successively lower manifold pressures... like 0-1psi... 2-5mmHG...then 7-10mmHG....and the car will surge....and loose pressure. I can watch the boost gauge high 0-1psi...fall back to 10mmHG then jump up to 2-5mmHG...gate opens falls to like 14mmHG...jumps to 7-10mmHG then falls again.
I think what Im going to do is find boost leaks...because I have an approximated 7psi pressure drop from my compressor outlet until my intake manifold plenum!!!!
take my profec B off for the time being.
Run the vacuum signals for the gate from the intake manifold and not from the compressor housing. So I can actually get 7psi of boost...or whatever the hell the stock spring rating is.
Does this sound like a logical way to go about this? Any ideas or tips you guys want to give me? thanks
