Default Internal to external

i have a used garret t3 that was once internally wastegated. when it was shipeed to me there was no wastegate but there is the hole that goes through the turbine hosing.

that one right above the turbine. now going on my logic allthat would be needed to run an external wastegate is get that hole welded off, is this true? sometimes my logic doesnt work out just right and i wanna be sure it will work befor i order a wastegate.

edit: also the two bottom bolt holes appear to have bolts broken off in them, how hard is it to get those removed? thanks in advance for any help.

you can buy block off plates(maybe for less than $25) that bolt up with your downpipe to that housing to block the hole off....then you just need a mani that has a place to bolt up an external WG.

if you had the right tools and some thin mild steel, you could make your own. and it would double as a gasket.

use the actual gasket as a template, drill holes for the studs, drill a pilot hole for the turbine exit and then get a metal cutting blade on a jigsaw and cut it out, then trim the thing down to the shape of the gasket.
