Intercoolers
I was wondering how well a air to water intercooler would work as opposed to a fmic. If I was to use ice water on about 10 psi with an 18g turbo would it be better to just get a front mount or go with the other? Thanks.
Depends on the efficiency of the water to air intercooler..
Keep in mind with a water to air, they are usually a bit more combersome (well, extra parts rather) because of the pump, wiring, water, and seperate radiator you will need for the street.
But the upside, is more than likely, the intercooler piping length can be kept to a minimum, and you can get your air intake temps below ambient with an efficient enough intercooler, and cold enough fluid to pump (yes, fluid
)
The good thing about a frontmount, is they look sick( bling bling baby) And they can cool air very efficiently if the setup is good (But can be a bad thing, because this can be attractive to theives), and you dont have to worry about pump wiring, switches, extra radiator, resivoir..... etc...
My thoughts....
