Default How to get lowest comp. on d16z6

what headgaskets n stuff would I need?
I've heard the a6 head on the z6 would give me 8.4.1 or something crazy like that

Whats your reasoning for lowering the compression to those levels?
Just curious!

That is not necessary.

By lowering your compression, you are only going to lose horsepower. With GOOD tuning, you should EASILY be able to keep your compression at the stock levels, and still run big amounts of boost.
Do a search, tuning is the key!

with pistons and headgasket u could lower it. but as stated before, you dont wanna drop it as low as u can just for the sake of boost. good fuel management and tuning should do the trick if its done right.

9.1:1SRP's and greddy head gasket, which drops.6:1, will give you 8.5:1 .

ive called greddy 3 different times to ask about there headgasket and everytime they gave me a different compression number. first was 8.2:1, then was 8.6:1 then was like 8.8:1...what is the truth if anyone has tested one???

keep stock compression...with good tuning youll make more power and less lag.

Well I was looking to get the forged supra pistons and b16 rod from turbopanda (eventually) and an headgasket..
on a stock block with good tuning and fuel how much psi can I run?

turbo panda rates them up to 14 psi right?

then run that much to be safe. trust me that would be more than enough to keep you going before you wanna up it some more.

you gotta have some serious tuning. i'd say you will be making about 280 and maybe more????

i belive i've heard of compression ratios down in the 6's on some olddd *** turbo cars (aftermarket re-builds)

And if im not mistaken, the nitromethane dragsters run like a 5:1 static compression ratio? Something like that...

I have a A6 head on my Z6 block... 8.4/1 at 15psi daily sounds better to me than 12psi with 100oct.

Can you tune a D16z6 to run 15psi ? Sure... But how long is your motor going to last ?

Is the honda motor the ONLY motor ever built to be able to run 10/1 compression and 15psi ??? What makes the honda the exseption to the rules ???

GS-T = 8.5/1 ( older ones were even lower.... and notice they are fast ones )
Buick GN = 8.5/1
Dodge SRT neon = 8.3/1
Supra = 8.?/1
VR-4/R/T = 8.5/1

The list goes on and on.... Why would every automaker give a car low compression with a turbo if they could just "tune" the car to run 9.2+/1 compression ?

The true down side of the A6 head, Z6 block combo is the A6 head has smaller valves ( 1mm ), and then tend to have higher miles.. Anyone wanna buy a Z6 head ?? hehe...

In the end low compression is better, not in everyway, but in the ways that count.
Higher boost on pump gas
increased engine life
And if you have traction problems ( cough cough, AWD stealths/3000gts ) a little lag can be a good thing.

I guess 8psi and 9.2/1 would be good, but 10psi + ??

PS: I'd suspent that the B-series rods and supra pistons would/will be good for about as much HP as the crank/block could handle. If tuned right, I bet 22 psi ( with the right turbo ) and race gas wouldn't break them...

knock kills, not power... stock BUICK 3.8L is good for 600HP with no knock, but one little mistake and its over...
