Default Intercooler pressure loss

Is there a way to compensate for the pressure loss from using a very large intercooler?? Reason being is that I'm getting a great deal on an fmic, but the thing is similar in dimension to the apexi gtr core. Can u simply up the boost or just live with it?

if you have a boost controller, your WG wont open untill your manifold sees whatever boost level you set it to, it will just take longer to pressurize your whole intake tract.
