i've looked at a few sites for ic piping for my 95 ls. i've tried the diy jc whitney way and they keep on blowing off. just wondering how much drag piping ran for. if anyone has some used piping or if someone has just the part from the turbo to the ic let me know. thanks again guys.

did you fasten the jc-whitney pipe together well enough, or brace it to the frame of the car... that should work best unless u can find some place else that sells mandrel bent aluminum for cheaper

or get it welded in every place but the IC in/outlets

What kinda hoses are you using? Get some good silicone hoses and run 3.5 inch wide pieces where it keeps blowing off. I buy my hoses from road race.

i bought some hose off of ebay. works well in most places. it just keeps on blowwing off at the turbo outlet.

Are you using a reducer? Your probably just using a straight piece which is probably larger than turbo outlet by too much. The clamp is probably not able to hold it tight enough. I would suggest getting a reducer to get a tigher fit on both ends. That is just my 2 cents.

my piping isnt the best but it does work, try going to a marine shop and asking for marine exhaust piping. it is made of rubber and reinforced with metal. the aluminized piping (exhaust) has worked well but it is heavy.

Maybe it would help if you put "beads" where the IC pipe meets the hose's and use T-Bolt clamps

i use jc whitney pipes with silicone hoses and some from home depot running 8 psi. it stays on it. What are you using to keep the pipes together?

i keep hearing about the jc whitny piping , what is it , cheaper way to go than just to get a greddy intercooler kit???????? this is for a 99ex with greddy turbo

i've got a home depot reducer, but thats not where its coming off. its comming off on the next one.

i'm using jc whitney pipes with silcone couplings and home depot couplings. the couplings are held on by clamps. i think i'm going to change my set up when i get a bigger intercooler and get the setup from quikB18B. 215 isn't bad at all.

bead the ends of each pipe with a welder or jb weld and use t-bolt clamps, this is about the best way to do it.

I used this setup:

JC whitney piping (for those that are newby, buy some U bends from JC whitney, 1 24 inch long U bend, 2 12 inch long U bends, 1 90 degree bend all for $70 and have a buddy/welding shop/muffler shop cut and weld piping together and bead the ends of the pipes that are to be connected by silicone couplings)

Buy silicone couplings from Roadraceengineering.com 2 feet was $50, cut where needed.

Buy clamps, now some use t-bolts that are like $3.50 a piece, I found for about 50 cents more, napa sells these tourqe clamps that have springs on them to give constant tourqe like where our header meets cat. Part number 7051508 but you have to buy in boxes of 5 (5 * 3.99 = $20.00)

what kind of clamps your using, before i use the regualr clamps it didn't hold that good, now i am using the turbo clamps from Turbonetics, it holds really good

incorrect, the t bolt clamps are way better than the traditional clamps(.99 ones) that come with the kits. They have a spring that keeps it securely locked, similare to design of bolt on your header/cat. Iv'e also heard nappa carries some good clamps for around 3-4 bux. Gsrsol got me the ones off vecco.net they were 3.79 a piece .

Bead roll the charge pipe ends and use T-bolt clamps. The will take care of air leaks and blow-offs. Using good quality couplers helps also.

**below: I also agree that that using good couplers and bead rolled pipes will hold well even when using traditional worm style hose clamps. But I look at it this way, why not spend little extra for the T Bolt clamps. I really like the constant tension T bolts with the tension spring. There are also T bolt lcamps without the tension spring.

Those home depot couplers were designed to hold pvc pipe together not Intercooler pipes. Doa search on "home depot" and i'm sure you'll find some pics of these couplers literally blown to shreds. They are rubber and dont hold well to heat. For the guys who want a cheaper alternative to silcone the next best thing are those nappa radiator hoses.

all of my piping has been held together with marine exhaust piping. its a high grade rubber that is reinforced with a steel layer in the moddle. these badboys will be in perfect condition the day my car rusts itself to nothing.

what do these clamps look like. i have used these regular clamps on 24psi turbo cars forever and have never had any problems.

Im sure with the right combination of piping, silcone, the normal clamps can hold boost, but i was just correcting you that there are better clamps. Go to http://www.vecco.net they have pictures thier .

I have to agree with Iggy (quikb18b) you even had a little trouble with your old rev hard setup and those everyday clamps that come with the kit. I like the idea and cost savings of the JC Whitney but also the piping he has for sale is a
