Default Will PVC piping work for charge pipes?

I couldn't find any metal piping at the hardware store, but I did find PVC piping and the perfect elbows and joints to make my intercooler piping. Can you use PVC or will the air get too hot and melt it?

There was an issue about toxic fumes when pvc was heated up. Anyway, the conclusion was NO.

In fact, I'm using a 90 degree elbow at the moment. I have enough poison gas from my exhaust leaks already. blech.

I don't know anything about toxic fumes, but I did use a short PVC run between my turbo and my intercooler and after about 2 weeks it was completely melted and deformed.

PVC piping turns very brittle when it becomes heated up. Small parts of PVC flake off and enter the motor! That is bad! Stay away from that stuff! There is a reason it is at Home Depot and not at your local performance shop.

When PVC is heated it releases dioxins. Dioxins are extremely harmful to life. Just because you can't smell it, doesn't mean it isn't there.

I got mine from whitney, for less than 30 bucks you can have all you need. You can also get silicone hose/connectors at homedepot instead of paying like $10 a piece at a speedshop...

silcone connectors? The only connectors I've seen at HD are those cheapo expanding black rubber ones. They do the job well but dont can't on longevity.

BTW, you can also go to a muffler shop and get aluminized steel mandrel bent piping, but stainless steel will probably look better and retain heat better and be slightly lighter due to increased strength. I say JC Whitney... even though their SCC catalogue is full of ricer ****.
