intercooler optional?
I've been searching turbo kits and i've came across some that doesn't have an intercooler. What's the benefit of having an intercooler? And will installing a non-intercooler turbo on my engine mess it up? I drive a 98 accord lx 4cyl 5 spd.

Intercooler is to cool the air before entering the turbo and the engine. Of course in a turbo car, the cooler the air, the more power it produces.
I think it also prevents the engine from overheating itself. <---- maybe...
Anyways I would do it. Hey if stock turbo cars have intercoolers, why not you.

almost ...
1- an intercooler doesnt cool the air before entering the turbo, its is used after the turbo to cool the air prior entering the throttle body/intke mani
2- an intercooler isnt always needed, depends on the motor build/type amount of boost run. for your setup, you will need one.
3- intercooler doesnt keep engine frm over heating, thats called a radiator.
hope this helps
p.s- dont forget u can search the archived/recent in the forced induction forum before posting ... good luck with your project
