intercooler fitment ? please help....
i havn't bought it yet in hopes that some of u could cure my fears of having to use a plasma cutter on my bumper reinforcement, its a pwr intercooler dimesions are 20x8x3. some people told me i would be allright it would just hang a little lower some told me i have to cut a chunk of my bumper reinforcement out, i don't really want too do that. any suggestion of hope is great, thnx in advance, oh btw the car is a 93 civic coupe

yup, and before everyone comes in here and starts bitching about taking the bumper support off, its only good to 5 mph anything over that it does jackshit.

yah i kind of figured that , guess i'm gonna tear off my bumper and see what it looks like down there, do they check for reinforcements on safety and emissions?

your crazy it only works at 5mph...i crash cars for a living... if anything just notch the front out to match the intercooler to fit in the bar...you need it there expecially the sides that connect to the frame rails, if you have an airbag car and want it to work!!! airbag sensors (on a honda) depend on reading a preset frequency that the metal emits in a crash to justify if its sever enough to fire off the airbag...if you dont have bags then you will be fine

personaly, i would not remove it fully if you are daily driving, but hey its your life. I don't know where you get the info that the bumper is only good to 5 mph... its attached to your frame rails, it will take way more then 5 mph. I've never read info on crashing with or without one, but i can only imagine that without one would be way way worse. I hit a deer, high up, and it put my radiator support back a foot. Thats what your gonna be using if you take out your bumper support.

k not saying i'm going to do it, but one my car is worth 2 grand at best , two the car was built in 93 i'd be lucky if the airbags went off, not saying i'm going to do it ur right i'll cut my bumper way before i make any harsh decisions like that. trust me i'll look over all my options. i definently want to be safe, i mean if it came down to a plasma cutter, can u rent one of those or like who would actually do it?

saw zaw, with a fire fighters blade, i think thats what they are called. There like 15 dollars/blade at lowes. But they rip thru metal nicely. Otherwise, some body shops carry plasma cutters, however they may not touch it due to liability reasons. Best bet, someone on the side, or a tuner shop.
